I named my 22 month old daughter Laken, had no clue about a Laken on Santa Barbara, saw the name at a mall kiosk selling different print outs of name origins/coats of arms, etc. According to them it's English in origin, having something to do with water. My husband and I chose it because it sounds Finnish which is my heritage and flowed well with our last name (Mooney)
