Date Posted: 04:48:35 02/19/14 Wed Electric motorcycles will race alongside conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) bikes for the first time at the 2014 Isle of Man TT. Darvill Racing has advised they will be allowed to compete in a number of other races, including the ‘Pre-TT’, Southern 100, Classic TT, Manx Grand Prix and ThundersportGB. The team also says they are included in “a number of other international championships with individual and one-time events scheduled for the racing season.” The Darvill Racing team will be factory supported by US-based leading electric motorcycle company Brammo and will be using the firm’s eSuperStock and TTXP2 bikes at the Isle of Man TT. This is not quite the first time electric-powered motorcycles have competed alongside conventional machines: In 2011 the SWIGZ.COM team participated in the WERA roadracing series, with rider Chip Yates taking two podium places.
