Date Posted: 08:57:24 03/03/14 Mon The Government has launched a public consultation to review the Public Motorsport Law. The Motor Sports Association (MSA) has been lobbying for power to be returned to local authorities to enable them to suspend the Road Traffic Act and allow competitive motorsport events on public roads. If the consultation finds in favour, this will see mainland Britain given the same status as Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. This would remove a major obstacle for such proposals as the Isle of Wight TT. Rob Jones of the MSA said the review is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change this legislation and thus help the sport in the UK’, and called for all members of the motorsport community to take part and respond positively to the review prior to the 10th April deadline.
