Austrian electric motorcycle company Johammer has built a cruiser that can, reportedly, complete more than 200km (125 miles) to a charge - commensurate with a lot of modern conventionally fuelled motorcycles.

The hub-centre steered machine's batteries also give a guaranteed 200,000km (125,000 mile)/four year lifetime without dropping below 85% of peak battery efficiency. It also does away with the conventional dashboard, instead featuring a speedo and charge indicator into a panel on the mirrors!

Just two things: First, the Johammer retails at a prohibitive EUR 23,000. And second, it looks like a Bakelite (ask your grandparents) snail!

For more information (if you really are interested or just want to look at the strange look of the machine - why do electric bike manufacturers think going down the "wierd" route is the way to sell their bikes?):

Be warned, the site is even less impressive than the bike's appearance.
