Date Posted: 04:59:30 05/27/14 Tue The famous Spanish brand Bultaco has relaunched with a new stance as an electric motorcycle manufacturer. The company has revealed two prototype machines – the Rapitan and Rapitan Sport – that will launch in 2015. The two bikes feature 53 bhp electric motors putting out 92 lb-ft (125Nm) of torque and will return 125 miles in town. They feature a “Hossack” suspension system (similar to the Telelever system BMW employs). Bultaco claims to have implemented a more efficient regenerative braking system, which “maximises the rear wheel’s adherence during braking which enables a considerable electrical braking torque to be applied”, feeding the charge back to the batteries. Bultaco –perhaps best known in recent years for trials bikes and before that for supplying a successful range of race bikes for Angel Nieto’s “12+1” world Grand Prix titles – was founded by Sete Gibernau’s grandfather in 1958.
