Date Posted: 04:54:06 06/24/14 Tue Harley-Davidson has released an electric motorcycle. At this stage it is little more than a concept bike, but a working model does exist and is being taken to 30 Harley dealerships across the US for aficionados to ride and provide feedback. In time this will be expanded to Canada and Europe. The bike – titled ‘Project Livewire’ – features a 74 horsepower engine with 52ft-lbs of torque. Depending on which news source you read, it can go between 53 to 130 miles before it needs charging and will offer riders a top speed of 92mph (148km/h). Recharges will take between 30 minutes to an hour (but 3.5 hours for a full recharge). Harley is keenly aware that sound forms an important part of the Harley experience, and has created an add-on that is reputed to sound like “a fighter jet on an aircraft carrier”. Perhaps most importantly, it LOOKS like a ’real’ motorcycle. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
