‘Pioneering’ new electronic, illuminated signs are being installed in recognised motorcycle accident blackspots; the first time this technology has been used in Britain.

The state-of-the-art LED signs – which feature eye-catching warning displays that support the Government’s “THINK!” road safety campaign – will be circulated between a range of locations over the next two months.

The first installation is on the A675 between Belmont and Abbey Village and the A68 Blacko to Gisburn road.

LCC highways boss John Fillis, said: “Reducing the number of collisions on Lancashire's roads is one of our priorities and these signs are an important part of our plans. We have worked closely with the police to make sure we install them where they will have the biggest impact.”
