My 10 year-old female Lab-mix is displaying unusual symptoms. She is panting and frantically wants outside. Once she's outside the panting subsides and she lays down. This may seem normal but it is not. She also had an episode this morning where she stood in place, not moving, for about 10 minutes. Then, she layed down in the grass. She seems responsive to her name, is alert, but will not or cannot come to me. At first she would not eat or drink. Now she has taken water and eaten a dog biscuit. But, when she is brought inside, she begins the panting and begging to go out. Also, she would not get the newspaper this morning. This is her favorite thing to do because she gets a treat once the paper is inside the house. I have never had her refuse to get the paper. Please help me figure this out. I'm not crazy. My dog is in some kind of distress and I need to figure out what's going on. I'm a retired teacher and can't afford to pay for Vet tests etc. HELP!
