本世紀最為轟動全球的羅曼史男主角--英王愛德華八世﹐為世人演繹了一個"不愛江山愛美人"的愛情故事﹒這位未婚的國王對兩度离异的美國平民辛普森夫人一見鐘情﹐為了同她結婚﹐不惜一切代价﹐于1936年12月10日毅然放棄了王位﹒

英王愛德華八世(Edward VIII 1894 - 1972)不愛江山愛美人。1936年遜位，貶為溫莎公爵(Duke of Windsor)，迎娶美國離婚婦人華莉絲辛浦森，成為膾炙人口的浪漫故事，但今日(01/10/01) 聯合報十版外電報導：溫莎夫人紅杏出牆，與美國花花公公子唐納修有過一段情。此人非但小溫莎夫人二十歲，而且是同性戀者。公爵對夫人偷情一事，完全知情，但默不作聲，為的是讓唐納修支付他一擲千金的生活所需。此一報導扭轉了世人傳統美好印象。現在試譯他的遜位宣言(Renunciation of the British Throne--King Edward VIII)以回顧歷史。

At long last I am able to say a few words of my own. I never wanted to withhold anything, but until now it has not been constitutionally possible for me to speak.

A few hours ago I discharged my last duty as King and Emperor, and now that I have been succeeded by my brother, the Duke of York, my first words must be to declare my allegiance to him. This I do with all my heart(I do this with all my heart).

You all know the reasons which have impelled me to renounce the throne. But I want you to understand that in making up my mind, I did not forget the country or the Empire which, as Prince of Wales and lately as King, I have for 25 years tried to serve.

But you must believe me when I tell you that I have found it impossible to carry the heavy burden of responsibility and to discharge my duties as King as I would wish to do without the help and support of the woman (whom)I love. And I want you to know that the decision (which)I have made has been mine, and mine alone.

納粹頭子希特勒已迫不及待了﹐命令立即組織劫持﹒于是﹐新的行動計划制定出台﹕由公爵夫人的一位密友出面邀請公爵夫婦到葡萄牙与西班牙交界的中度假并實施綁架﹒然而在這關鍵時刻﹐英國特工又再次成功的破譯了德國的情報﹐蒙克頓二赴卡斯卡伊斯﹐當面告知公爵德國策划的綁架陰謀﹐并從蘇格蘭場帶來多名偵探﹐陪同公爵夫婦于1940年11月17日登上"艾克斯凱利伯"號游輪﹐一直航行至目的地--巴哈密瓜馬群島﹒
