I just got off the phone with Everett Viez, he is a nice old man. he is 87 years old and was actually on the
Olympic in 1934. Many of you may have seen reprints from his photo collection in the many
books out. He took most of them himself, mostley the Aquitania. He told me that the waterways
on the Olympic were black and that the roofs over the Navigating bridge and the wing cabs were
streched canvass over wood, painted a medium gray. he said that it was another common color
for waterways or "scruppers" to be red, but he remembers the Olympic's being black. he also
said that the Olympic's bollards and windlasses etc. on the forecastle were black as Ken paints
them. I will call back and talk to him further about some other things when he can pull them out
of his memory.
