I was at the football lunch today (8/30) and asked the new coach about the future of CCSU football. Apparently, there are no plans at the moment to change conferences. This will depend however on if the NEC can remain a viable conference or of the league begins to fold as a football conference. Coach feels that the NEC can, in time, compete regularly with the Patriot Leauge. Based on Albany's win over Fordham and CCSU's win over Colgate last year, he may be right.

He also said..."don't worry about the future...life is too short. Lets win in the league we are in right now!"

Also...I'd like to encourage folks out there to join the "touchdown club". It's just $65 (Min. donation) and the group of guys starting the club (ex players) have put their hearts and souls into it. All proceeds will benefit the football program. Check CCSU's website to find out more.

Hey I agree, let's win the league and the bowl game for now. Another upset this season - vs. Georgia Southern would be great! We have a chance to continue the progress made and make a real name in I-AA football. If we don't go at least 3-1 in the non-conference schedule it will be dissapointing - its not that tough (other than GSU).

I just worry down the road that if UA left the NEC for football it would be very hard for the NEC to ever get the AQ for the I-AA playoffs. The loss of SBU hurts a lot and I hate it when our program has to rely on what other programs decide to do. We need a conference with 4 or more solid team! But if we can schedule strong in our OOC games then we will be in good shape.

If you haven't done so, try to contribute what you can to the Touchdown Club. I got a notice in the mail and sent a check. I'm sure they will post something on the website soon on how you can join!
