Subject: Connecticut's "Other 6"

With all apologies to Philadelphia's "Big Five," as of 1/23/06:

1. Sacred Heart (9-8, 6-2 NEC; 149 RPI) Pioneers are led by the NEC's leading scoring combo of Trim/Frye. SHU has won 5 of their last 6 games and sits tied atop of the NEC, with quality OOC wins at Albany and vs. Lehigh.

2. Central Conn. (9-7, 5-2 NEC; 190 RPI) Led by great outside shooting, the Blue Devils have won 3 straight and have quality conference wins vs. FDU and at Mount St. Mary's (OT). CCSU also swept a home/home sweep vs. current AE-leader Binghamton and won at current Ivy-leader Harvard.

3. Yale (9-8, 1-1 Ivy; 205 RPI) Elis have won 4 of their last 6 and have quality OOC wins vs. Louisiana Tech, Sacred Heart, and at Rice.

4. Fairfield (5-11, 3-5 MAAC; 222 RPI) Stags have dropped 3 of the last 5, all MAAC games on the road. Best win vs. Siena, but bad losses at SFNY and vs. Canisius.

5. Quinnipiac (5-10, 1-6 NEC; 284 RPI) Bobcats have lost 7 out of their last 8 and their best win is vs. FDU.

6. Hartford (6-10, 3-4 AE; 304 RPI) Hawks have lost 8 of their last 10 vs. DI teams, including getting swept by the NEC (at LIU, at SFNY, and vs. Monmouth). UH's best win is vs. Yale.

And of course the big dogs - the UConn Huskies - are likely the new #1 in today's coaches and media polls.
