Subject: NEC race

Wow, what a game last night at Monmouth! Those Hawks always seem to get something special done at home. FDU had a long road swing and they didn't play like they wanted the game as much as MU. This race is still wide open, and the regular season championship ensures an NIT bid, if the team fails to earn an NCAA bid in the NEC tourney. MSM is also very hot and could get the #4 seed.

CCSU has to win out and let the chips fall as they may, but if FDU drops its last 2 (to Wagner and Monmouth), and SFNY beats Monmouth, would CCSU earn the #1 seed?

I'd really like the Devils to get #1 or #2 seed much, much more than the #3 seed where we would likely have to play a semifinal game on the road.

If that were to happen (CCSU wins out, Monmouth goes 1-1, FDU 0-2) then CCSU would earn the top seed. Although that is probably unlikely given the way Wagner is playing and that FDU has two home games. IF the three teams tie at the top, then Monmouth goes #1, CCSU #2 and FDU #3 because of the tie-breakers. Let's start with a win over LIU, because right now CCSU can finish anywhere from 1-5.

I thought the REFS really helped Monmouth shift the tide in the last 5 minutes of regulation. Monmouth was grabbing, tugging, smacking anything that had an FDU on it, and there were no fouls being called. . This game looked like an instant replay of game one of the NECs that CCSU lost on a last second heart breaker. It also didnt help that FDUs inside game dissappeared in the 2nd half. There was that one FDU player that was Jacking up 3s from NBA range and hitting a few. But I saw no penetration what so ever. and the 2 top players were content with a pass, pass & shoot mentality.
This is why I have said for a while that Monmouth is the team to beat.... For the past few years now...

Watched RMU big over SFPA. That L in Loretto is looking worse and worse each day! Kinda like how the loss to the Flash in FB was the difference between an outright NEC championship and a co-title. We should be just 1 back in the Loss collumn to FDU. But you're right, CCSU just has to worry about LIU.

Larry - I agree Monmouth is very dangerous, they play smart and with a lot of heart. The thing about FDU is if you can get up on them, they get a little sloppy.
