Subject: Height is an issue

We seem to turn everybody's mediocre big men into studs. This team will be even worse next year if we can't find at least someone 6-6, 6-7 who can play defense. I'm really getting tired of having to rely on making twenty threes a game to win.

The team was 18-11, not exactly as bad as you continue to make them out to be. Explain what even worse means?

Including the previous two seasons, we're about a .500 team and haven't reached the conference final since 2001. Virtually every time we play a team with a decent center, such as FDU (cresariol) and Monmouth (Bunch), score way over their season averages because we have noone to cover them. It simply isn't fair to Obie to make him cover someone who is 6'10; it takes away from his strengths. Also, it usually means Obie has their tallest player covering him. I like Hickenbottom alot, but he is never going to be anything more than a 10 point, 6 rebound guy. Shifting gears, I'm not extremely worried about losing Chiera and Jefferson. I'd like to go with PG) Blackwood, SG) Mojica (or a new recruit), SF) Hickenbottom, PF) Obie, and C) split time between Middleton and Ingo...But I still don't see that being any better than this year. Ingo or Middleton need to come on strong next season for us to be any good. We are in pretty bad shape if this years recruits aren't any good. Were going to need a Demario Anderson, Nwadike type of recruit season. Overall, I don't think it looks good at all for next year. We have two very good players in Blackwood and Obie, but the rest of our lineup and bench is full of question marks and mediocre players.

The big problem now is that we are losing two starting guards. One (Chiera) is arguably the best point guard in CCSU history, and out leading scorer, the second (Jefferson) was one of the most consistent and probably one of the 10-15 best guards in CCSU history. That leaves us with Tristan Blackwood as out lone guard in a 3 guard set! The incoming recruit is a guard, and I am assuming he will start, but we need a strong recruiting class, with some guards, and some height, that can play instantly (like Blackwood & Hickenbottom last year)

***As you can see, my Sundays are incredibly boring***I like Chiera, but do you really think he is one of the best PGs in CCSU history? I only know two PGs, but I'm pretty sure I would take Alexander over Chiera. Alexander was a much better passer and hit a ton of very clutch shots (I haven't been to many games but witnessed him a incredible runner with very litle time left to beat QU). Back to recruiting, I checked scout.com and didn't see us going after any big men (not too reliable considering Myers isn't listed). I also checked out prospects form CT and saw there is a guy named Joe Dorsett from Milford; he's 6-10, 280, a 2-star recruit, and has no interest or offers. These star ratings obviously don't mean much, but I'd hope we could at least check him out. Wouldn't it be nice to have a 6'10 PF, coupled with a 6'11 (Ingo) or 7-6 center one of these years??

Best point guard in CCSU history? Obviously you guys weren't even born when Gene Reilly roamed the hardwood at Detrick in the 60's. Nobody better.......then or since! Ask C.J.

Dissapointing loss. First, even with home court advantage, we looked a little nervous or intimidated. Part of the loss was mental.

CCSU is at a huge disadvantage with its size. Does that mean we can't win smaller? No! We can win, but without some height a Big man luck Bunch can kill us if they can, especially if the stop our outside shooting too. Bunch killed us, it showed and it hurt, but Obie, Hicks and Sobers played strong and with heart.

As for next season. We were flush with guards last season, but with DA leaving and now Chiera and Jefferson graduating I have concerns. Tristan will be fine, but we need some some help back there, we won't be deep at all.

It was a good season. Bottom line we were 1 win away (damn SFPA) from the #1 seed and an NIT bid. I'm disapointed too, but by no means was this a bad season! The fact is we all have high expectations and yes that is good thing. We all want the NCAAs and so does the team and the program. I do think we need a big spring signing class, 'cus were're back to a short bench next season.

Not a big incoming class, just a quality incoming class. Our only recruit from this season is Winters, who may or may not get play time next season (depends on how hard he works)
