Subject: Preseason scrimmages

Does anybody know of a rule that prohibits fans attending pre-season scrimmages? I was told I couldn't watch the Yale/Hofstra scrimmage on Sunday for that reason. I was able to watch the Hofstra/AIC (D2 school) scrimmage at Hofstra.

SCrimmages (with other DI schools) are required to be closed to the public and non-advertised. Echibitions (against non-DI schools) are allowed to be open. Both according to NCAA rules.

Do you know if this is a new rule or has it been on the books for awhile.

when they changed the rules on exhibitions (i.e. no outside teams like Marathon Oil, etc.) they changed this rule.
