Subject: RMU, SFPA, and MON upgrade FB fields

NEC website has articles on field renovations at the 3 schools. Similar to the Field Turf already @ Arute. Lots of good stuff going on in Conference.

Also, newspaper reports some of Monmouth's future OOC FB games:
@ Colgate (2006)
@ Lafayette (2007)
@ Delaware, vs. Lafayette (2008)

Plus an interesting quote from the Monmouth President - "We want to make sure we have fields as good as people we play and that we might play in the future," Gaffney said.

So are they looking for PL membership? Seriously I think the NEC as a conference may move closer to the PL model of aid (not full scholarships, but increased equivs) so they can compete with most IAA teams and a spot in the playoffs.

Patriot League.

Monmouth is not going there (they don't meet the academic profile), but they have scheduled quite a few PL schools in the past few years including Towson (when they were in the PL), Georgetown, Lehigh, and Lafayette.

PL has really great academic schools, and is somewhat similar to the Ivy. Speaking of IVY, one day it would be nice if Yale would play Central since they don't play UConn anymore, but it will never happen. That said, the Bulldogs have faced mid-major Dayton and San Diego in the past, so its probably has more to do with our "profile" more than it has to do with FB talent or competitiveness. YaleOL - do you think the Elis would ever host CCSU for a game?

2005 NEC football vs. PL:
UA - @Fordham
CCSU - @Colgate
MON - @Lehigh
RMU - none
SHU - @Holy Cross
SFPA - none
SBU - vs. Bucknell, vs. Georgetown
WAG - none

I think SHU and SBU might have the NEC's best chance for an upset, because they face 2 of PL cellar dwellers in G-town and HC. UA, Central and Monmouth will have their hands full, but I'd expect a very respectable outing by all 3 teams.
