Subject: Santa Clara Game

We finally played a good game against a pretty good team. I actually hope Charlotte wins because Im curious to see how we would do against them, and it would be a win that would actually mean something. Lenny Jefferson is playing great, I really hope he keeps this up.

IT sounded like CCSU didnt fold when SC made a run in the 2nd... It sounds like the team is maturing. Who Ran point in the 2nd half? Where was lenny?

I agree guys! I watched live stats. That was a quality mid-major team that happens to be in a little slump now, but already had 2 major wins (UNC and Stanford) and will probably compete for a top-3 finish in the WAC. If SCU can turn it around soon and finish with a strong WAC record they might have a shot at an NIT bid. Basically a team similar in quality to Niagara, this was a very good win for Central because they shot well and held the lead. CCSU does have the talent, the just need to keep learning how to win.

Now they get a shot at Charlotte. They are a major program and this would be a huge win over a CUSA team. They have some decent wins against Valpo, Davidson, and Indiana and lost by a total of 3 points to Rutgers and #22 Alabama. This is a good time to knock off a big time program on a neutral court. Yale played them very close and I think we have a real shot to win. If the hot shooting and strong defense continues the team could steal a tournament title and make up for the lost one in New Britain earlier this year. Also, the Santa Clara win and the game vs. Charlotte should really help our RPI for the year - it just moved up to 148.

Of course I meant WCC, not WAC.
And CCSU current RPI improved to 208, not 148 (Santa Clara).

BTW - Here's a good website for RPI stats, etc:

I dont expect to win at Charlotte, but if we keep it close, then I will be extremely impressed. Santa Clara played a 3 guard lineup, so we matched up well against them. Their size didn't kill us. I know nothing about Charlotte, but hopefully they aren't a huge team because I really dont want to see a blowout. I am unsure about who ran the Point, but I think Chiera and Lenny might of been handling the bulk of it. Blackwood is a Freshman and is pretty inconsistent so the play of Lenny is extremely important. It is shocking to see that Brooks is getting pretty much no play time. I know Hickenbottom plays hard and is a good guy to have on the team, but he simply cannot score. Anybody else feel Howie is disappointed in his recruits for this year, considering we have 2 big men projects and a JC player that cant even get any playing time?
