Subject: MSM revisited

Listened to the game. A win that slipped away, even though MSM is improved and Landy is a real potential NEC POY.

Positives:
CCSU out rebounds MSM.
Central shoots 85% from the stripe.
D.A. and Chiera shoot well from the field.
Frontcourt of Pittman, Hickenbottem, and Sobers are solid.
Overall its a good effort, but ....

Negitives:
An 0-2 start in NEC play!
Another loss at home!
Another 2nd half of poor shooting (28%)!
MSM has beaten Loyola.
Not an impressive start to the 2/3 of the season.

CCSU had a few chances to pull away, but didn't. This team needs to keep the 2nd half shooting as good as the first and play much stronger defense. They must learn how to win close game to fully reach their potential.

Next game:
Saturday @ SFNY, a team the Blue Devils have struggled against in regular season NEC games (2-10). With a good possibility of starting off 0-3 in the NEC, any odds of home court advantage in the playoffs are becoming slim.

Sobers should of played more minutes, especially over Hickenbottom. I dont know if they limit his minutes because of injury, but it seems like he's had shin splints ever since he came here. His shotblocking his huge and if he can play an entire game, I think he is exactly what this team needs. Lenny is playing great at PG, Anderson at SG, Obie at SF, Pittman at PF, and Sobers at C. That would give us a very good starting lineup and a deep bench.

I'll agree, but only a little. From the radio call last night its sounded like Sobers isn't at 100%. He was a little timid on both O and D in a few plays. Yes, with more game minutes his play should improve a lot and he may someday have more production than Hickenbottom, but his progress in practice (or injury rehab) must be slower than what we expect. I think they both Sobers and Hickenbottom will see more minutes especially if Obie is out for any signifigant period of time. I wonder when/if the JC guys will be ready to see some limited time too?

Also a little more player rotation could keep the starters fresher for the 2nd half. (IMHO)
