The more I thought about the OOC schedule, the more I started to really like it. There are 4 home games, something most low to mid majors don't have (and I noticed the MS tourney is the Fri/Sat before T-giving break, so I assume that is meant to increase student attendance). There are 2 nice tests vs. Niagara and LaSalle, although I expect LaSalle won't be very strong this season. Then there is 2 weeks to prepare for UConn at the HCC. This game could be ugly because the Huskies are still a top 10 team, but it is a game we should play whenever they give us a chance. And I really like the tourney in California. It could be something really special if they get past the host and get a shot at Charlotte. Overall the schedule has grown on me, but I still would trade the FIU or Loyola game in a second for a local (Hartford, Vermont, URI, Fairfield) or regional (American, George Mason, Towson, Navy) team, even if it meant CCSU had to start the series on the road.

Not to get ahead of this season’s schedule, but I assume:
2 home/1 away series with Loyola is over after this season
1 home/1 away series with Niagara is also over after this season
CCSU bought the MS tourney teams and FIU without a return game next season
LaSalle will return a game in New Britain next season
UConn is a guarantee game and renewal is at their discretion

What are the chances of signing some bigger names on the schedule in future years? I found this from the Marist board – they have a four-year contract with St. Johns ... first two at MSG, one at Marist, one at Alumni Hall. Also, URI is returning a game to Iona in New Rochelle and the NEC’s SFPA is scheduled to have George Washington visit them this season. Is the Mohegan Sun arena still interested in hosting a CCSU game, or was the UMass series a money loser for Central and the casino?

This is know: FIU will come to New Britain next year.

And I agree, having some bigger names on the sked would be great, but with the success the program has had those teams don't want to play CCSU.

The Mohegan game with UMass was good because it was two close teams. I don't think anything is a money-lower for the Sun, and it didn't cost CCSU anything because the Sun footed the bill for everything. The task would be finding another close school to play CCSU, because UMass doesn't want to lose again :)
