take those magazines for what they are worth, nothing. How can Robert Morris have two players in the top-10 and be picked 6th and CCSU have non and be picked 3rd? Those things are garbage.

[> NEC Recap/ Preseason pics -- J.J., 10:07:42 09/30/04 Thu

Yes, any pics this early are just a guess. We know the coaches poll doesn't always come close and those guys are the most informed. Anyway, here is a short and decent recap of last season, which includes last seasons team leaders, and players lost - http://www.hoopville.com/conferences/31.asp?EntryID=10609

If I were to make a pre-season prediction (just for fun) based on what is known to date, here's my guess:

1. Monmouth - Defending Champs have the POY in Hamilton
2. FDU - Returns top 3 scorers from 3rd place team
3. SFNY - Great backcourt and can always run
4. CCSU - Lost a ton in Robinson, but a well balanced team

5. SFPA - Lucky is a scorer and a leader - 1st team NEC
6. MSM - Getting stronger, but so is the rest of the NEC
7. RMU - Lost a lot of exeperience, points, and rebounds
8. Quinn - With Monroe healthy they make the playoffs

9. Wagner - Overachived last year, doesn't have Prichard
10. SHU - Lost good backcourt, won't make playoffs again
11. LIU - Way too young, but built for the future

Generally, I think the teams will finish in their respective tiers. Picking newcomer of the year or guesing how any freshmen will perfom is the biggest guess IMHO and can really change predictions. Clearly, a better prediction can be made after the OOC portion of schedule is completed, but what the hell its no worse than some sportswriters.

I really think that Howie got some real good replacments for this season. I cant really recall when a good player left that another player stepped up point ptoduction. Rons 20 PPG will be missed, but i am sure that you will see more points from Obie, Jermino and Demario. Also there are some JUCO Xfers that will add to the point production.
