Subject: NEC football

CCSU is in a very good position to win the NEC with tough games remaining at Monmouth and Albany, but as luck would have it if they do win the NEC title there will be no post-season or ECAC bowl. But it’s great that they are in this position, so no complaints but doesn't a NEC championship team (whoever it may be) deserves some sort of playoff/bowl reward.

So on that note here is an article regarding the NEC’s desire for a playoff spot and Monmouth’s overtures to possibly leave the NEC in all sports.

Does the NEC deserve an auto-bid to the I-AA FB playoffs? No, not right now but if the playoffs expamnded and the NEC went to something like 30 grant-in-aid equivalences and as a whole the conference became more competitive vs. scholarship teams, then maybe. UA, SBU, Monmouth, and even RMU have been scheduling pretty strong and are looking to increase competitiveness and exposure. Let's hope CCSU moves to the front of the pack by continuing to schedule strong OOC games and maintains their quality coaching and player recruiting.
