As a CCSU graduate this entire situation is very sad to me too. However, in the end it is best that he retires now and CCSU moves on. He was a nice guy and he has meant a lot to the university, but as the president this was his 3rd strike.

The next president should continue to carry the university to loftier goals - both academic and athletic. As UConn has become a top-tier national university, CCSU’s aim should be to emerge as a true "state university." CCSU must maintain its role as CSU’s flagship school through expansion and stronger academic requirements. Athletically, C.J. and the entire department have created one of the finest programs in the Northeast. I would like to see us purse more regional rivalries with other New England universities that UConn left behind long ago for greener pastures (URI, Vermont, UNH).

I have no doubt that the potential is there, we just need strong leadership and much more financial support from the General Assembly! In my opinion, as long as the politicians in Hartford continue to treat the entire CSU system as a second rate, it will be an uphill battle for resources and respect.
