Subject: Alpha Weltall method
In reply to: Reod Dai 's message, "Welcome, everyone!!" on 07:46:08 02/24/01 Sat

First of all, I'd like to credit someone for coming up with most of this method in the first place...Hyuga Ricdeau, a moderator at Final Fantasy Online. How he came up with it, I'll never know. I made a few modifications on his method, but the large bulk of it is his stuff.

You need to plan on taking on Alpha Weltall very early in the game. First, I'll explain the stuff that you need.

1. 3 Holy Pendants. A Holy Pendant comes with Billy, but the other two you must buy in Nisan. You may only purchase these in Nisan before you're forced to return in the first disk. You probably can't purchase them on your first visit for lack of money, so you'll have to do it after you obtain the Yggdrasil II, the submarine. There is a beach on the southern coast of Ignas that allows you to drive back onto the desert and take the Road to Nisan.

2. 3 Evasion Rings. You can purchase these in the Anima Dungeons from Shopkeep Johnny.

3. 6 Simp Circuits or Old Circuits. I only ended up using 5 of them, but that's a change from Hyuga's original method...I'll leave the choice to you, when you read the rest. I recommend Simp Circuits, only because I spared no expense in attempting to defeat Alpha Weltall...if there's a possiblity that Simp Circuits work better, I'd use them. To get Simp Circuits, you must fight Shinobis inside the Goliath Factory...they're pretty rare opponents. Just walk around in the area where Hammer is standing with his Gear and fight. If it's not a Shinobi, escape. You should be able to come up with the 6 that you need in a reasonable amount of time.

4. 2 FrameHP50's and 1 FrameHP30.

5. 1 SonicG Whip, for Bart's Gear.

That's it for the stuff that Hyuga recommended in the original method, but here's two additions by me.

6. 1 pair of Speed Shoes. You must win this in the Kislev Battling Arena, before going to Solaris.

7. 1 GNRS50. You must also win this in the Kislev Battling Arena before going to Solaris.

Now, for the method. First, the people you should use. There's Fei, of course...something to remember with Fei, though, is that he MUST be at Level 70 or above. Fight in Anima Dungeon 2 until he is...this is so he can use Kishin with System Id. Next is Bart...he is a must. The third person is rather flexible, but I (and Hyuga) recommend Maria, because her Seibzehn has the best Frame at that point. Every Gear must be equiped with their best equipment available at that point...you can get this stuff from Shopkeep Johnny in the Anima Dungeons.

For Weltall, I recommend the S50 Engine, rather than the N55 Engine, because the S50 has 800 more Fuel. The extra power won't matter, and Fei needs the Fuel. Maria's Seibzehn already has the S50 Engine, so I'd just leave it at that. Give Bart the N55 Engine...the extra power will matter in his case. Every Gear needs their best Frame...that is, WELT-21,200, BRIG-22,000, and #17-22,200. As for Armor, I recommend the 60/25 armor...you'll want the extra Ether defense. Bart must also have his SonicG Whip.

Now, to equip the other stuff. Give everyone's Gear 2 Simp/Old Circuits, and give the FrameHP50's to Bart and Maria. Fei should be given the FrameHP30. A change that I made here...I only equiped one Simp Circuit on Fei, using the other space for the GNRS50. I'll explain more later. Each character should be equiped with a Holy Pendant and an Evasion Ring. Give Fei the Speed Shoes, as well.

That's it for the equipment. Now for the actual fight. First, I'll explain some of the reasoning behind some of the equipment as it applies to the actual fight, along with some of the principles that you should follow.

1. You can never go wrong with Charging your Gear. The two Simp Circuits work together to reduce damage while blocking...you know that nasty physical attack that Alpha Weltall does, the one that does 9,999 damage? When you're blocking, that is reduced to about 650. No kidding. And the triple attack that adds up to over 20,000? That goes down to nearly 2,000. Remember, this only happens when you're Charging, so be careful when you time your attacks!

2. The Evasion Rings will help you avoid AW's attacks. Believe me, you'll be extemely grateful to them when one of your Gears is sitting there with about 2,000 HP remaining, and AW's triple attack fails because they all miss...

3. The Holy Pendants are there for Bart and Maria's Infinity mode. Once you get them to Level 3, you can simply have them sit there and Charge. Once they get to Infinity, they'll have 6 turns, rather than 3. Fei's is just a safety measure in case he runs out of Fuel for System Id, but I don't think that you will use it.

4. You should heal your Gears if their HP goes below 10,000.

Now, for the battle itself. Fei will have the Speed Shoes, so he will actually get a turn before AW. Have him cast Yin Power on himself to raise his attack power. Then AW will attack. Hopefully, his target will evade his attack. Bart should turn on his Booster, and Maria should Charge. I'll tell you right now, Maria's main purpose is to provide a target for AW. As long as she's Charging, he can attack her as much as he wants. Fei should now activate System Id. His pattern from now on is to use Kishin, and nothing but Kishin. Heal when absolutely necessary...maybe not even then. Thanks to the GNRS50 and Yin Power, Kishin will deal 9,999 damage to AW. Bart should now do an X attack to get him to Attack Level 1. On his next turn, have him do his second Level 1 Deathblow. This will silence AW's Ether Amplifier, thanks to the SonicG Whip. Now AW's nasty Super Guided Shot attacks will do no damage to you.

Now, have Bart switch between Charging and X attacks until he gets to Level 3. Then have him Charge until he reaches Infinity. Fei should keep on using Kishin, and Maria should Charge in the hopes that AW will attack her. You can get her Booster on at some point if you want, and maybe start on getting her to Level 3. Hopefully, between your Charging, evading AW's attacks, and his Ether attacks (which won't work), you'll be able to survive.

In my battle, I Charged Bart and Maria often to provide targets, and used Fei to destroy him. I managed to get 8 Kishins on AW, which is about 80,000 damage. AW has about 100,000. AW then managed to knock Fei out...the only part that I didn't like. I then got Bart up to Level 3 and Charged him, and just kept Charging Maria. They managed to avoid his attacks and block until Bart got to Infinity. I then had him do Dead Dance, which did about 4,500 damage each hit. It required 5 Dead Dances to finish AW, and he attacked Bart quite a bit...but Bart managed to dodge several times, and 2 or 3 of AW's attacks were Ether, which no longer had any effect. So, I managed to defeat AW with Fei as the only loss (although he was basically the instrument of the victory).

I cannot stress how difficult this battle is. It requires a lot of luck and patience...I beat him on my sixth try. And the rewards...are not that great. You get a Slayer Robe and about 200,000 EXP (divided between you). So, I'll let you decide whether it's worth the trouble. Personally, when I found out that it was possible, I didn't rest until I had succeeded...
