Lake Ontario from Oswego!
The fishing this past week has been superb. The question is.... Where do you want to catch brown trout today?
If you have a small boat and the lake is rough, or you don't want to burn fuel, you can catch all you want right in the Oswego Harbor. while you may have to weed through the Giant Kroakers (Sheepshead), the browns are well worth the weight as Bundy, (Any trout over fifteen pounds) has been taken on a near daily basis. The walleye fishing is improving daily and the catch rate is up from last year for sure.
If you like the open water and don't like sheepshead, then head east or west.
Both four mile point and the area from the college to the green can is on fire. Browns are everywhere! We also took a chrome 16 pound King on Saturday, ten feet down over 50 feet of water and several steelhead each trip. Both are great fighters on six pound test line. The weather is not the best, but the fishing is well worth braving the elements. It should warm up by the weekend and the fishing should just keep getting better.
