Salmon River - Pulaski, NY. Reports and Ramblings:
I hope you find my reports and articles entertainingly informative and mildly educational

1/30 - Salmon River Report

Heard they were hit'n good numbers of steelhead in Pucker Brush 1, 3 and 6. Took a drive around and found open water everywhere I looked. Water flow in these area's was perfect! These area's may slush and freeze up soon.
Please use caution if driving here in the next 3 days.

Water went to 350 cfs last night. Thursday to 500 cfs until Monday.

1/29 - Salmon River Report

I'm back, the water is rising and it's time to get this party started!

Tuesday Midnight 350 cfs until Wed. Mid.

Then 500 cfs until Monday.

Look for fresh steelhead to push up from the lake and estuary. Other steelhead that have been hanging down to middle river to push up even further. All in preparation to start spawning. Some steelhead will start as soon as Feb. and other's will follow into April.

I am getting reports from the river that this weekend the fishing took off like a rocket ship. Reports of a couple hook-ups to the teens. Push's of fresh steelhead into certain area's.

1/26 - Salmon River Report
Very possible with the latest weather forecast that we could see some run off. Normally it takes 3 days in a row of 50 degree air temp's to see any noticeable increase in water flow (run-off) on the Salmon River. This may or may not happen as we are on the boarder. With 285 cfs being released since Dec. the reservoir has plenty of water. Keeping this in mind, it should be an indication that might spell higher water flows, should there be the slightest bit of run-off.

As always, this increased flow would create or induce a run of steelhead, transitioning up into the lower Salmon River.

Enjoy,

Randy Jones
