The water was perfect today and it didn't rain or have a hard wind blowing although it did snow most of the morning.
We floated quietly and carefully picking our way through the boulder fields and gravel bars hucking egg bags and wiggling hotshots into promising nooks and crannies. Where ever there was gravel near a blue-green colored deep pool there were Trout lurking nearby waiting for our offerings. The water was a chilly 35 degrees and I suspect the things were mostly comatose and lethargic but we had four solid attachments but we only got to reduce one of the slippery creatures to our possession. For the most part, we were beaten like rented mules!!! The trout soundly trouncing us try as we might to capture them. They are like that you know and the main reason we pursue them. Theresa managed to boat a purple-sided Hen rainbow about seven (7) pounds. Tomorrow should be even better as long as there is no rain to melt more snow or drag in floating debris or muddy the waters. Stay tuned steelhead rangers. Good fishing. Walleyed Out!!
