Don@t recall your name, I arrived in 42 and was No 2 in Derobeck .You mention Mr. Hillman ,when I left Watts he became my unofficial guardian.He is unfortunate now deceaced but his wife who is in her ninetieth year is still very with it, she lives in Brixham Devon and I will be seeing her soon.
I did my time , ending up as a chief O.A. (o)But my memories will always be of the smell of the tarred hemp, I still grab a piece of three stranded rope and do manrope knots ,diamonds ,stopper knots etc. as taught by Bloater Haslem. What a man.Sid Pointer,Bert Busby, Bandy Joyce,& Dear Mr. Frost,what was he doing amongst all that nautical business.Teachers. Wallis Hoskins. Head,Tiller Bonk English.
Basher Pike Maths , Miss Choat music. Bill Ely in the kitchen,Fred Hall, dogsbody. Mr. Shilling Carpenter,his son came back from war for short time to help with signals.
