There is nothing to traumatic about her beginning, at least not when it comes to her. Her parents were young, especially her mother, who was a mere 12 years of age at the time. But her parents were two individuals who despite there young age truly loved each other. They knew what they were doing, one can’t say her mother was ‘forced’ into it, or to innocent to know any better. They both truly understood what they were doing, and they both ‘wanted’ it, their only true mistake being they didn’t use protection, despite knowing the consequences. But they as sated did indeed love each other, and they cared for one another, and would be willing to face anything as long as they were by each other’s side. But things didn’t remain s joyous, but do things ever remain perfect for long? Especially when you are only 12? Kayla was conceived on her mother’s 12th birthday, a month later things were shattered forever.

Both her parents were heavily into drugs, and drug addicts have addictions to feed, they were into everything and anything, you name it they probably did it. The problem came from money, and the fact both of them lacked it. They lived in the same apartment, the apartment rooms right next to each other. Actually the two of them shared a wall, and they arranged their beds so they were shoved up against said wall. They had even made up a code, seeing as they both came from… odd homes one tap meant ‘I need help’ two taps ‘everything alright?’ with the retuning two taps being “fine”, three taps was a simple “good night”. It was an oddly childish thing, started when they were children, but kept up even as they got older.

The apartment was cheap, old and rundown, not really cared for, they were crap to say the least this meant rent was very cheap, yet still both family had a hard time paying the bills on time. On top of this, drug habits of expensive to feed, and money being tight they could barely afford the chemicals they were so depended on. This had always been a problem, at a young age her father started using his status as a well known gunman of a local, but fierce and feared gang of the New York City Streets, and her mother’s status as the sister of the leader, to get them what they wanted. Her father was a well known man in of itself, having always been big, and strongly built, he was intimidating to say the least. He was known for his skill with the gun, but for his habit of being a little to trigger happy. It was also a well known fact that anyone who messes with him, or anyone he cared for ended up dead.

This made his dealer allow him to get his hands on the drugs, with out paying up front, in a way ‘making a tab’ for the expensive chemicals. This only managed to build up debt, and by the time her mother was 12, her father 16, they owned their dealer a few thousand dollars for drugs that they have ‘bought’ over the years. The dealer was growing fed up with him, and his lack of payment, and despite his fear of the gang, and of her father in general, he finally drew the line. The deal was, he pay him in 48 hours, to start paying him back, staring with only $600. He tried as hard as he could, but couldn’t get his hands on the cash he needed, and finally ended up going to his girlfriend, having had no where to turn. This was of course the last minute thing, she had no choice but to turn him down. But fearing for him, and knowing it was serious, promised that she will get her hands on the cash he needed, just lock himself up until she got a hold of him.

She then cautiously sent him away, taking his gun from him fearing that he would do something stupid and get himself killed. That was the last time she heard form him, he never made it to his apartment. A gun shot rang through the apartments only 2 minutes after she ‘sent him home’, there had been a struggle, or an exchange of words ,but the gunshot was all she hard. She rushed to the scene to find him bleeding. She didn’t see the door to his apartment open that day, his younger brother (a year older then her) and his little sister (only 3) standing there. He died in her arms, his last words he manage to choke out being an apology for breaking his promise and leaving her. only a week later she found out she was pregnant with Kay.

Kay’s mother never been a strong person, and after Kay’s father’s death she broke down, and not being able to handle it and wanting no one to know about the pregnancy she took off. She ended up living on the streets, giving up her drugs (for Kay of course) despite the fact that task was close to impossible. She didn’t keep good care of herself though, at at about 3 months before her due date, she went into labor. Kay was very early to say the least, and it was on that line of ‘will she survive or not. Her mother didn’t fare well either, and slipped into a coma, doctors claimed it was from loss of blood. Kay proved to be a fighter though, and she recovered quickly and faster then her mother, and it only took two months, before the doctor labeled her fit enough to leave. Her mother on the other hand wasn’t so lucky, she was out for 2 more months, and took another months for them to be happy enough to let her go, her mother didn’t stay for all of that though. after about 2 weeks questions started flying about little Kayla, and her guardianship, and the adult who would consent to help raise her… she having no one, and knowing that would mean she lose the child Kayla’s mother picked her up and ran. How her mother managed this…to this day is unknown pure stubbornness is all that can be said. She didn’t plan on keeping poor Kay though, but she wouldn’t let a stranger take it. Instead her mother took advantage of a fact a friend recently miscarried, and slipped her the child, begging her to raise the girl as her own, and lucky enough the girl was good friends with Kay’s mother and agreed. That was how she was raised, by her mother’s best friend, raised to believe the girl was her real mother.

No one ever found out about her real beginnings, and how she managed to be passed off as the other girl’s baby is unclear, though the miscarriage helped, it still didn’t explain everything. Still they managed it, and even Kay herself was none the wiser of the truth. Guess it helped that the miscarried baby would have been her cousin, her mother’s best friend, and her uncle having slept together when both were to high and drunk to know the difference. This was how it was raised, though Kay has been briefly told of her real father, she never once opened her mouth about it in front of others, her mother saying people would be angry. She has never been told about her mother though, that being kept in secrecy. She had no idea that her mother was some young teen, trying to better herself so she can one day take custody of the child once more.
Her ‘adopted mother’s ‘parents, (her adopted grandparents maybe?) weren’t all that nice though, abusive and cruel to their daughter, they weren’t all too happy to find out about their daughter’s pregnancy, and thought it a blessing when she miscarried. Then kay came along and they swore their daughter lied and hid the baby. and for whatever reason they wanted to take the infant from her, and raise it for their own. So she took little Kay and ran away, and they both ended up on living on the street,s mainly hanging in the lot, that belonged to the gang, for there it wasn’t so bad, and they got a bed.
So putting it in other words, she was well cared for, but she wasn’t really rich despite her ‘adopted mother’ coming from a rich family, this being why her birth mother chose her. But in spite of not being raised with a lot of money she was still spoiled, she didn’t ask for much though, so it wasn’t like she got a lot. She was mainly spoiled with attention, when she wanted it she got it normally. And she doesn’t do well when she is ignored. She used to moving, around a lot, avoiding attention if they could. But a few months ago, some random strange old lady, and some other people burst into their current living place, with out warning. Kay remembers this event as scary, with a lot of harsh words, and cruel tones, with tons of yelling. Her mother didn’t seem to like them, and she could sense it with the way she tensed up, so she decided she didn’t like them either.

Her hate only grew as the woman sudden ‘snatched’, and took her away. She remembers it as something harsh, the woman picking her off the bed, and when her mother tried to stop her, her being yanked rather violently out of her mothers grip. The woman had somehow found out about her mother, and the fact that she wasn’t legally the caregiver, and was only doing her job. But she wasn’t good with kids, and wasn’t nice about it. She should have did it gently; instead she made it a traumatizing event for the toddler. The woman wasn’t fond about this job, she doesn’t like children, and she hates babies. She hates teenager’s even more, especially teen parents. Her years of work have hardened her, and she no longer belongs in the career she has, but she to old to find a new job. She didn’t tell anyone anything, and instead of calmly explaining to Kay and her ‘adopted mother’ what was going on she just took her and brought her miles out of the city, where she was dropped off in a boarding school with her real mother.

Her mother attempted to raise her at first, but she proved to be to hard for her, eventually her mother had enough… not that not putting it right. Her mother realizing she couldn’t handle it, and for the child’s sake begged a friend of hers Ruse to take in the little girl. The guy was a little jumpy, and most would say far from an ideal parent, but he had two happy children and was amazing with them, at least in her mother’s view so she chose him as her next caregiver. Plus Kay could easily pass off as his child. He eventually ended up moving away from the school, running from a past he can’t seem to escape.
