He awoke with a start his hands clutching the blankets that covered his form, holding them to his chest as he struggled into a sitting position… The sound of yelling reached his ears as she sat there, his breaths coming in quick gasps. This was nothing new; it really wasn’t that rare for him to be awoken by such things. And normally he could turn it off and go back to sleep. But today he couldn’t seem to do it… no matter how badly he wanted to.
His grip on the covers slowly loosened, as he brought his hands up to cover his ears, trying to block out not the angry screaming, but instead the sobbing that was accompanying it. The sound of his own speeding heart soon joined the voices, his form rocking as he tried to ignore it, soft mumbling escaping him as he repeated “enough please enough”.
It was the sound of wood shattering under something heavy that finally brought him to his feet. His form shaking as he stood by the bed the covers wrapped around him and held to his chest once more. His breaths continued to come in quick gasps, a shiver running down his spine as the crying grew louder. Dropping the blankets at his feet he rushed forward, bare feet silent as he rushed down the stairs.
The house wasn’t large, one floor, and truly one bedroom. But the attic was later transformed, despite it having lack of heat… into the kid’s bedroom. The attic stairs led down to the front door. And to the right was the living room. He stood quietly at the bottom step, shivering in his rather raggedy pajamas. The house was freezing the heat was turned off a week before, along with their electricity. Wrapping his arms around himself he tilted his head, looking into the living room. Wincing slightly, he recoiled from the scene of the bloody mess that was once his sister.*

“Stop it!”

*the words had escaped him before he even knew he said them. But it didn’t much matter, he was ignored anyway. His father not even hearing him in his drunken state. He didn’t try again, moving backwards towards the kitchen. Gripping the phone as he stumbled past it. Clutching it as if his life depended on it as he hit the table. Ducking under it he looked shakily down at the phone. Dialing ‘911’… hot tears burned his eyes, threatening to fall. The voice at the other end catching his attention…
His words to the operator was mainly babble, even so they seemed to gain what he was saying. Enough to know where he was, and that he wanted to come with no sirens, knowing full well it would piss his father off, set him off again now that he finally calmed down…
The cops had finally arrived; the sound of the door breaking down Is what told him of their arrival. Then everything happened to fast. The paramedics rushed in, pulling him away from the scene. He made some half hearted comment on her not getting up before he fell silent once more. The paramedic that held him was shouting orders. Saying he wanted him cleaned and the extent of the wounds checked.
All he could do was shake his head, he wanted to say he was fine. Wanted to insist they worry about his sister. The blood that was covering him after all was hers. But nothing would form… plus he could hear them. They said she was dead… she couldn’t be dead… she wouldn’t leave him. He started struggling, pulling out of the cop’s hands and into the living room, where he came face to face with his cuffed father. but he was pulled away once more, he didn’t struggle this time…
Everything went in a blur, he couldn’t understand anything. He felt like he was watching this through a haze, that it wasn’t real… he had a cop on either side of him, both holding his arms. As if he would fall with out the support, or they thought he try and run. He could hear their voices they were talking to him, but he couldn’t make out anything they said. He didn’t know what was happening, then as if someone hit a light it registered. And not all of it, but one thing… twisting himself around, he yanked violently out of the grip of the adults, shoving past the rest of them into the house, and up the stairs to his room, where he slammed the door behind him, and slid a chair into place.
Screaming echoed through the room, he moved silently to the bed he left. Lifting a small infant, and hugging it to his chest. Gaze lifting towards the door, the sounding of pounding causing him to back up to the corner of it, his form sliding into a sitting position the baby on his lap as he rocked it silently. He clutched it tightly, but not harming it. Still the infant’s cries rose, as it felt the fear, and desperation in the boy.
He jerked awake, his eyes snapping open as someone’s hand slid to push his shoulder. The darkness faded, the babies cries disappearing as he slowly looked around the plane to who touched him.*

“You alright… you seemed troubled”

*he sighed, shifting in the small seat of the plane, his form fidgeting in an attempt to get comfortable. He made no actual attempt to answer at first, instead he focused on the clouds, his legs drawn up in the seat with him… the dream had been choppy at the very best, the events not quite flowing. But he didn’t need to see it, he lived it…jumping as once more a hand was rested on his shoulder… reminding him of what was asked*

“I’m fine…
you su…
I’m fine Mc leave it alone”

*his words had come out slightly harsher then he meant them too. And as the female pulled away from him, he winced. He didn’t want to push her away, he didn’t even mean to snap. Weight shifting slightly, an arm moved around her briefly. Mc was his savior to say the least. Though he never say it out loud. She saved him not only physically but emotionally…
