It is better to give than to receive! Count your blessings and
share them!

Let me tell you a little Christmas story that goes like this: One should be in the list to be able to attend the Christmas party tendered by a television company for the press. At the venue of the party, several scribes were not allowed inside. "Hindi pala
sila talaga kapuso!" was all they can utter on their way out.

A colleague who has been partial to the station, but has
never gatecrashed any of its press conferences, called its
lady
PR. "Tumawag lang ako para itanong kung puwede ako sa party ninyo mamaya," aniya. "Ay, naku, hindi puwede, nakalista na `yung mga invited namin, pero may ipadadala kaming regalo sa inyo," sagot naman ni PR. According to the scribe, it's not really the gift that he's after, but the camaraderie and the feeling of belonging --- thinking that they have monitored all the little things he has done for the television company in one whole year. "Ganoon lang pala sila, hindi nila pinahahalagahan ang maliliit na nakatutulong sa kanila. Now I know!"

On the other hand, pinatunayan ng ABS-CBN kung gaano kalaki
ang puso nila when it opened its doors to the press thru a
Christmas party open to everyone, name or nameless, no matter how big or small you are in the entertainment writing profession. We're not really known to be a gatecrasher in presscons and other showbiz affairs. But for this one --- to which, everyone said,
ABS-CBN had a blanket invitation for all --- we braved and took
the risk for whatever consequence, humiliation included.

But while signing my name on the guest list, I already felt
the warmth and sincerity of the people who welcomed me. There was this bottle where one picked a number, and one got a gift
instantly.

Everyone was included in the raffle.

It was fun-filled at tipong hindi ka kakabahan na any moment ay may mga matang nanunuri sa `yo. Walang ganoon, everyone was happy. Ang saya ng mga pakulo nila't muntik na nga akong sumali sa Otso-Otso contest --- at my age, huh!

I'm not speaking for myself alone, but for my colleagues who all went home with a happy face. We'd like to thank all the people behind the successful affair --- especially Rikka DyLim, Eric John Salut, Leah Salterio, Tita Angge --- and thank you, ABS-CBN! If
you have a big heart for us, so do we! More power to all you guys!

Masamang-masama ang loob ng ilang kasamahan sa hanapbuhay kung paano sila ipinagtabuyan (yes,) ‘yan ang term na ginamit ng kausap ko) sa Christmas party for the press ng GMA 7. Hindi tuloy maiiwasan na maikumpara ang napakagandang treament sa kanila nang um-attend naman sila ng Christmas party for the press ng ABS-CBN.

"Pagpasok mo pa lang, at wala ka sa listahan, itataboy ka na," sabi ng kausap ko. "Napaka-humiliating ng nangyari and lesson learned sa amin ‘yun na never nang pupunta sa mga GMA 7 event."

Tuloy, isa-isang ikinwento ng kausap ko ang very warm treatment na nakuha niya sa party naman ng ABS-CBN.

"Sa ABS-CBN party, walang listahan at all," simula ng kausap ko. "Pag-register mo pa lang, you get to join the raffle pa. Invited and non-invited press were treated the same. ‘Yun dapat ang treament sa press."

Dagdag pa ng kausap ko, "Ganyan talaga sa mga GMA events, may listahan na at kung wala ka sa list, sorry na lang. Pero sa GMA, Pasko o hindi, same policy. Ang nakaka-touch lang sa ABS-CBN, never as in never kaming binastos sa kanilang mga events kahit ‘di kami invited."

Tanong tuloy ng mga kausap ko, aware kaya ang top management ng GMA 7 sa treatment na ibinibigay ng kanilang tauhan sa mga press?

Dahil 50 years celebration, magarbo ang ABS CBN party for the press. Ito ay mula sa pinagsama-samang efforts ng ABS-CBN Talent Center, Star Cinema, Star Records, News & Current Affairs, ABS-CBN Interactive, Global, Regional.

Bukod sa gifts, nagkaroon din ng games. Nariyan ang singing contest at ang "Otso Otso" Dance contest na pinangunahan ni Bayani Agbayani. Umulan din ng raffle prizes mula sa refrigerators, TV sets, DVD players, washing machines, mini components, microwave oven, trip to Hong-kong, Boracay at marami pang iba.

Nagbigay naman ng entertainment numbers sina Cherry Lou, Angelene Aguilar, Dustin Reyes, Star In A Million finalist Christian Bautista, King, Divo, Michael Santana, John Wayne Sace, Emma Abeleda, Mico Aytona, Rayver Cruz, Sergio Garcia, Mhyco Aquino at Michelle Ayalde.

Dumating din si Maricel Soriano para bumati at namigay ng regalo at ang cast ng Klasmeyts na sina Aiko Melendez, Paolo Contis, Keempee de Leon, JR Rodriguez at Paolo Paraiso. Sina Mickey Ferriols, Tetay at Dominic Ochoa ang hosts ng party.

Nangunguna sa pagbati ng guests si ABS-CBN Chairman Eugenio III. Tuwang-tuwa si ELIII na personal na makilala ang press na nababasa lang niya ang mga pangalan sa mga babasahin. Dahil nag-ninang sa kasal, humabol si Executive Vice President Charo Santos-Concio. Nakisaya din ang Vice President for Talk & Musical Deo Endrinal.

Napaka-accommodating talaga ng Vice President for PR, Corporate & Government Affairs ng ABS-CBN na si Malali Espiritu-Manalastas. Present ang PR Director na si Leah Salterio at Rikka Dylim, John Unson, Amy Mosura at Joel Sol Cruz.

In full force din ang Promotions & Publicity Division ng Talent Center na sina Thess Gubi, Patty Ramirez, Pear Clemente at Freddie Bautista. At ang Star Cinema promotion group led by Roxy Liquigan, JD Ching, Jun Mayuga at Wilbur Hernandez.





Nasaan ang slogan ng GMA? Kapuso nga ba talaga?!
