Subject: THINGS I HATE ABOUT ABS-CBN

I'm not going to stop expressing my views on ABS-CBN for the hippocritical hype, propaganda, and money grubbing entity it is.

The jologs could have stopped. The ABS-CBN stooges could have addressed the matters at hand in a civilized manner. They didn't.

There's nothing better than something so ignorant and presumptive as "you're wrong, now let's stop arguing." Wow, what an olive branch. Please don't try to sell me any bridges.

The thing is, many of us choose not to participate in the pathetic fawning over ABS-CBN perpetuated by a few.

Now, we move on to other posts where the obsequiousness of ABS-CBN stooges are more tolerable, or perhaps (even better), nonexistant.

anyway, now with that out of the way, let's go back to the original topic of this thread:

1) This is an anti ABS-CBN thread, posting pro ABS-CBN stuff here can be likened to an Erap supporter yelling Erap pa rin at the EDSA shrine during EDSA 2.

2) If you're gonna counter allegations, please do so in an intelligent manner, no dogmatic statements

If you have a point, please justify it with logic

The same goes to people who like to reply in all caps or in bold face.

Doing that only shows that they are attempting to compensate their limited rhetorical weaponry through the extravagant use of capitalized words - something we netizens refer to as SHOUTING.

Sure, a sprinkling of capitalized words can add spice to an attack, but overuse is like too much tarragon in the stew.

Even worse from a tactical point of view, too much shouting alerts other PExers the poster's verbal WEAKNESS and emotional EXCITABILITY.

3) Respect the purpose of this thread, you may not like what we have to say about ABS-CBN- , you are not compelled to write anything or even read what is posted here.

If you are a pro ABS-CBN fan and you get pissed at what people write here, it's your fault- the title of this thread should be enough for you to know that this is not an ABS-CBN adoration thread.

Anyhow, if people try diss me online for the ideas I present, I don't care much. It's often either so juvenile it makes them look bad, or so lame they think it's funny, or both.

If they have a legitimate criticism, then that's fine. I'm fairly aware of my faults, and I'm willing to admit them.

Someone as critical of others as I am is bound to get a lot of flak, and sometimes deserve it.

That's life, you can't have everyone on your side.

Anyway- hope this thread goes back to its original purpose-

to air out your thoughts on what you hate about ABS-CBN

feel free rant... now... back to the topic:

Court orders ABS-CBN to pay P4M in royalties
Posted: 5:19 AM (Manila Time) | Jun. 26, 2002
By Leah Salterio
Inquirer News Service

THE FILIPINO Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Inc., (Filscap) succeeded in getting a temporary restraining order to stop ABS-CBN from using original musical compositions without license or permission in four of the network's top-rating shows.

The network is facing an infringement case after Filscap filed a 24-page complaint, accusing ABS-CBN of using songs belonging to Filscap's repertoire or inventory in three primetime soap operas and a drama anthology without license.

Filscap also accused ABS-CBN of failing to pay royalties for the public performance of the musical works.

Judge Reynaldo Daway of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court branch 90 issued a 20-day TRO which went in effect on June 24. ABS-CBN was ordered to refrain or desist from publicly performing the songs "Pangako sa 'Yo," "Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan," "Maalaala Mo Kaya" and "Iingatan Ka."

The songs are the themes of the four shows currently being aired on the network.

"Maalaala Mo Kaya" is a composition of Constancio de Guzman and is played in the weekly drama anthology of the same title, hosted by Charo Santos-Concio.

"Pangako sa 'Yo" is a Rey Valera original played in the soap opera of the same title, starring Jericho Rosales and Cristine Hermosa.

"Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan" is written by George Canseco and is used in the daily soap opera of the same title, starring Claudine Barretto.

"Iingatan Ka" is penned by Marizan Yaneza Soriano and is played in the soap series starring Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual.

Filscap, through its lawyer Tomas O. Del Castillo Jr. of Ortega, Del
Castillo, Bacorro, Odulio, Calma and Carbonell law firm, demanded that ABS-CBN pay an annual flat rate of four million pesos to the association.

The network made a counteroffer of 1.3 million pesos to cover all music used for ABS-CBN Channel 2 on VHF, Studio 23 on UHF, and ABS-CBN News Channel, Lifestyle Network, Cinema One and Vid-Ok on cable.

Filscap, however, rejected the counteroffer.

"They (ABS-CBN) don't want to agree to a reasonable royalty," Del Castillo told the Inquirer.

Judge Daway has scheduled a hearing for an injunction on July 5 to decide whether or not to impose more restraints on the network.

"If the injunction is granted to Filscap, ABS-CBN cannot continue using the songs on TV while the case is ongoing," Del Castillo said.

Filscap is an association of composers, lyricists, songwriters and music publishers with over 800 members, including Ryan Cayabyab, Willy Cruz, Vehnee Saturno, Jim Paredes, Jose Mari Chan and Lucresia Kasilag.

ABS-CBN@payatas
i heard this story from a friend..they were conducting a reach-out for the payatas victims together with abs-cbn..(my friend is a member of an organization)
then they loaded all the donated goods in the abs-cbn van para magsama-sama na daw.
and after they returned they discovered that the plastics they used to wrap the donated goods was replaced with an abs-cbn plastic
when they asked people from abs-cbn they lamely excused na nabutas daw!
what do you think?

ABS-CBN: the biggest political party of the Philippines
well, at least according to UP professor and political analyst Alex Magno.

And I couldn't agree more, ABS-CBN is nearly perfect in the elections, as attested by their "candidates" who have made it.

Loren Legarda and Rene Cayetano finished 1 and 2 in 1998 Senatorial Elections. Loren is the anchor of "The World Tonight" and "The Inside Story" while Cayetano had a stint with "Companero y Companera." If we are to include former president Joseph Estrada, who had a radio program in DZMM, Jeep ni Erap, then that would make it 3 of 3 for ABS-CBN in 1998.

In this year's elections, Senate bets Noli de Castro (TV Patrol) and Kiko Pangilinan (Barangay Dos)are consistently figuring in the top ten in the early results of the counting. If these pattern continues, it will bring to four the Senators who had come from Channel 2.

Meanwhile in the local front, former Alas Singko y Medya anchor Gilbert Remulla is leading in the congressional race in Cavite, and so is Hoy Gising's Ted Failon in his hometown Tacloban. Hard-hitting Teddy Locsin of Assignment, is likewise lording it over Armida Siguion in the first district of Makati.

However, on the downside, former ABS-CBN VP-News and Current Affairs Dong Puno has not been making it in the Magic 13 of the Senatorial contest, while field reporter Ronald Estella is suffering a beating from Manny Zamora in San Juan's congressional contest.

"Kabayad" Noli de Castro
In the question of credibility, integrity, and taste, should be turn our TVs to channel 2?

It made me wonder about the habit of immediately turning for TV patrol for News on the primetime. For so many years, My family has always turned to channel 2 for credible news and absolute objectivity on the hot issues of the day!

Nowadays, I wonder if ABS-CBN still has the same juice in the public affairs programs or its people are corrupted by the system they are trying to expose!

A couple of years ago, PCIJ launched a report on "Kabayad Noli de Castro" for extortions and abuse of media!

Erap's time, ABS-CBN was viewed as biased by most students and by the People of EDSA 2. In addition, there was a rumored propaganda paper written by the Channel 2 media men saying that their news were being trimmed and screened by the big men of Channel 2 in favor of Estrada.

EDSA 2, the public didn't hear the once so loud voices of Korina Sanchez, Ted Failon, Noli de Castro! As I remember, that was the time when I started switching for Channel 7.

Recently, the main men of MTB were condemned for their tasteless display of entertainment! Which subsequently brought them to their knees and begging for pardon from the MTRCB.

And last week, the same program was assailed for their tastelessness... AGAIN! The Mr. ADOR able contest was just another way of assaulting a man's personality and reputation!

All these from Channel 2! No wonder the station couldn't snatch a trophy from the Golden glove awards!

Hope someone from channel 2 could read this!

Please try to bring back the old glamor and glory of ABS-CBN.... or at least try to respect the hardworks of Eugene Lopez in preserving the station!

Yes- ABS-CBN may be entertaining the masses- but it is also fooling the masses (as well as the feeble-minded)

BTW- this username will soon become nonexistant (i'm up for banning due to a jologs bashing incident).

Well, it's due to an "illegal" post (a trap [link that redirected you to a gross site] for stoopid and curious jologs in the M&T forum)- this username is up for banning already ( due to a message from a "concerned" PExer to Yoshi).

Nice to have met all the PExers here, esp the Anime and Manga forum guys I have traded with.

Dont PM me anymore for your anime/movie trade requests- just email me: coRinthian01@yahoo.com or hitokiri.drizzt@badboy.co.jp
