Subject: Christmas cactus

Hello,
I bought a variegated green and yellow Christmas cactus right after Christmas last year and it looked pretty good all winter but by spring, it started to lose all it's variegation. I thought, ok, maybe it needs more light even though it was getting the same light and some sun as my African violets. I have had it outside now since April with other Christmas cactus where it gets at least an hour or two of sun, the rest of the day it's in bright shade. Is this too much sun maybe for this particular plant? What could be other reason's for the variegation loss, maybe reverting back to it's natural color? More fertilizer? I live in NY.
Thanks for any thoughts you might have,
Susan

Hi Susan,
We have both the yellow and white variegated Christmas Cactus growing in the same hanging basket. Almost all the yellow variegates have reverted back to normal while the white variegates keep on producing variegated foilage.
Randy
