Michael walked into Madeline’s office just as she was finishing up her briefing with Nikita. She was informing Nikita that due to Chandler’s security measures and the limited time frame they were working under, it would be up to her to get away at some point during the party that night and attach a decoding device onto the ship’s hull. “Once we’re able to obtain his password, Michael will be standing by to download the necessary information.”

“Will this dry fast enough for me to get dressed again?” Nikita asked, picking up one part of the two piece swimsuit lying on the table beside her.

“According to Walter it will,” Madeline replied. “If you run out of time, toss it out the porthole and go without.”

“Great,” Nikita muttered. Without sparing Michael a glance, she unzipped the gown she was wearing and began to undress. Michael suppressed a sigh as he averted his gaze. Madeline gave a small amused smile.

“We do have a dressing room, Nikita.”

Nikita slipped the black swimming briefs on as she looked from Madeline over to Michael. “What for? It’s not as if you two haven’t seen me naked before.”

What Nikita said was true, but it didn’t stop Michael from wishing she would make the effort to be a little less uninhibited. He suspected that her real reason for stripping just now was in rebellion to Madeline’s attempt at teaching her to use her body to seduce. There was nothing graceful in her movements, no attempt at false modesty or coyness either. She snapped on the strapless bra and then reached for her dress again.

“Do I pick up the decoding device from Walter?” she asked.

Michael reached into his pocket. “No, it’s right here.” He held it out to her and Nikita, eyeing the small circular device, thanked him.

“So I just stick it to the side of the boat.” She shrugged and slipped the decoder snugly into her bra. “Cool. Anything else?”

Madeline shook her head and deferred to Michael. “I think that’s it. Do you have anything to add, Michael?”

“Be alert,” he said, facing Nikita. “And try not to drink any alcohol tonight.”
