PART 2
She was crying. She just couldn’t stop it neither did she want to. Nikita stood in front of Alec’s room for hours now. She wasn’t able to tear her eyes away of his lying form. His doctors wouldn’t let her near him.
´´Please, you have to calm down.´´ was the only thing they were repeating the whole time.
He was shot 3 times which lead to the fact that he had lost to much blood. One bullet was still in his body in a critical area, the doctors were still discussing if they should operate again.
´´ Ok, to get it straight´´ she assessed while still watching Alec. ´´My brother was shot but no one really knows who did it or why he did it.’ She had difficulty in talking because of her tears and her running nose.
My brother. While Nikita tried to digest the fact that her brother was near death and maybe would never wake up again, Michael had also digest the fact that Alec had a sister. Nikita, he repeated her name, how come I never knew anything about a Nikita. Like it seems I’m not the only one with his secrets.
´´Yes´´ he spoke out loudly.
Her eyes had a tortured look when she turned to him. She eyed the man who hadn’t moved away from her side the whole day. He had introduced himself as Michael, Alec’s partner.
´´Yes´´ she repeated his answer` `it’s that simple isn’t it? ´´
No, nothing about it was simple. But he didn’t think it was wise to tell her that. Tell her that there were even more unanswered questions then she knew. With her appearance she had even added one more. He had been suspecting that Alec was hiding something from him and last night confirmed his idea. He wasn’t sure of how to deal with a pregnant woman. He didn’t want to upset her more. But then, maybe Nikita knew more than he did? She had refused to leave Alec’s side, refused to rest a while even refused to sit down. She was quiet stubborn he realized.
She touched the glass with her left hand as if she was touching his face; it was apparent that she was fighting back her tears. A hand with no ring Michael noticed.
´´Once when was a kid Alec took me to the playground, I don’t remember much but I know we had a lot of fun and there were lots of other kids and I started to play with them. After a time I must have realized that Alec was gone, I remember looking for him but I couldn’t find him so I got scared and started to cry.´´ she smiled ´´ Silly me I don’t even know why I was so scared. Anyway shortly afterward Alec appeared with a coke in his hand. He hugged me and explained that he only went to buy us something to drink. And he told me´´ her voice started trembling again´´ he told me, don’t you know that i would never leave you alone Nik? ´´
´´Oh god I’m so sorry Alec so sorry…I left you alone, It’s all my fault´´ She bend her head down and brought her hands to her face as if trying to hide it.
``Listen to me Nikita´´
He cupped her face with his hands he could feel her tears under his palms
``Listen to me carefully´´
Maybe he didn’t know much about pregnant women but he knew a deal about self reproaches.
´´It’s not your fault. It is NOT your fault. I promise you I’ll find the people who are responsible for this. And they will pay for this.´´
He looked so grim that Nikita didn’t doubt his words.
``But till then you have to be strong. All right? ´´
He didn’t know why he felt so protective of her. She’s the sister of Alec, my partner my best friend that’s why, he told himself
´´I know… it’s just… it’s so difficult seeing him lying there…´´
´´I understand´´ he wiped away her tears with his thumbs´´ But standing here won’t help. You have to think of yourself and your baby. Don’t forget that, Alec wouldn’t want that. I will bring you home now we will come again tomorrow ok? ´´
Just as he was about to take her by the arm to bring her out of the hospital she grabbed his arm. Looking at her he saw that the tortured look had gone
``Michael`` and a fierce one had taken its place `` whoever that was, we are going to find him together. ``
