What you read in test of course is always a person's opinion, and tastes differ.

However it is a fact that both the Megane CC and 307cc are a lot heavier than their regular 3-door brothers. The Peugeot actually 200 kg and the Megane even more: 240. This means serious performance loss compared to the original Megane Cabrio. I have driven a 2 liter CC and it felt about as quick as my current 1.6 cabrio, so if you are interested in performance I would definately advise you to throw in the extra money for the 2.0. You'll probabbly regret it if you don't!

About the noise... Considering how the roof is constructed it is of course not as silent as a hatchback's. It is however a vast improvement over the obnoxiously loud softtop on Megane 1. I have driven 130 in the CC and it made a serious difference. I'd say the noiselevel is about in between a Megane 1 cabrio and a Megane 2 Hatchback.

Switching from a coupe to a convertible always means giving up points in terms of performance with the same engine and noise levels. That's a fact of life. But what you get in return is immeasurably more joy. Try it once and your hooked ;)
