Subject: Known failures in Renault electronics?

My brother in law drives a Laguna and had several electronic failures recently.
Some test reports hint that Renault Megane electronics are not reliable.
My dealer advised to pre-install the car kit because installing it later can mess up the electronics.
Can anyone reasure me that Renault electronics are ok? Should I opt for the 5 year -100.000 km extended guarantee to be safe?
