Subject: The Mégane has won.

Notwithstanding the fact that in practically all comparison tests we’ve read the 307CC seems to win, we have decided yesterday to order the Mégane CC.
We’ve had the occasion last week to be able to use both cars for 24 hours, and the Renault has won, mainly because of its transparent roof, its more sleek and youthful look (in our eyes) and the various (not so) gadgets like the hands-free card, the dynamic tyre pressure control and the GPS screen that disappears into the dash. The driving pleasure with both vehicles in cabriolet configuration is practically identical, although the Peugeot feels a little more ‘solid’ but has also more ‘German’ looks (a little severe we found). However, there’s no contest once the roof is closed, the Mégane being much more cheerful inside due to its transparent roof. Also the available choice of colours, interior as well as exterior, have played a large role in the decision making, not the least for my wife ;-)
So our final choice: Privilège Luxe 2.0 in Beige Poivre with automatic gearbox, GPS, leather upholstery and seat heaters. Estimated lead time: 68 days, so delivery by early December. Oh yes, the best price offered for both cars was within 100 euro. Final net price (in France), including registration, 27.500 euro (30.500 gross). I herewith like to thank the webmaster as well as all contributors to this website and forum for their valuable information and interesting discussions.
