Interesting tax structure :-(. I still think you'd be better of buying your car abroad and to import it yourself. Example: The Sport Dynamique 1.6 in France is 22.600 €, leather is 1.400 €. Total 24.000 €. Tax free 20.236 € (-18.6% VAT). After discount of 8%: 18.617 €. Price on the road in Ireland: 18.617*1.2*1.21 = 27.032 €. A difference of almost 6.000 €. You could fly to Paris drive it back to Ireland and still make a bundle.
