Subject: lpg/gpl/autogas

Today I first saw the megane cc live, and it was magnificent. I was particularly interested in the room for LPG (GPL,autogas) in the trunk. Being a dutch lease-driver I must either drive LPG or diesel. For a number of reasons the diesel is not an option for me, in spite of its excellent performence, and its lower write-off.

To my astonishment, the bottom of the trunk is a loose panel, below which there is a spare-tire sized space, filled with some tools (why would I need a jack when I don't have a spare tire?), AMPLE SPACE for a tank ("onderbouw!")!

But my joy was spoiled immediately by the renault salesman that said renault just would not ship it with LPG. Why is that? I thought that technically the motors are the same as in the other megane models which are available with LPG. Why is that? Does anyone know?

They told me that I could get LPG installed anywhere, but that renault would void the guarantee. So for private drivers this could still be an option, but I doubt my lease company would accept it.
