Hey, Well there are many possible answers to your question but by the way you have explained it he does sound like he likes you. I think you should ask him yourself to find out if he likes you.
There is a possiblity that it may be a joke but you know what. If it is, hes not who u thought he was right. Everyone must take a chance somtimes u get hurt but then if u dont take that chance u may always be wondering if u should have or not.
