I have to hope that someone with more knowledge of this particular laptop steps forward.

The only comment I can make is that as far as I know, you can't hotsync via a parallel port (unless parallel ports have changed recently so I could be wrong). The only way to hotsync a Palm that I am ware of is serial, USB or IR.
