First, accept the fact that you may have lost any data you have added directly to the device, if you did not do a hotsync or back up. For inital entry to data to a new device, I would reccommend using the desktop, then hotsyncing to the device.

If the screen is frozen, I would suggest first trying a soft reset. While I don't own a Zire myself, a soft reset is normally done by using a push pin available on the stylus to push the reset button ONCE. The reset button is usually located on the rear of the device, or occasionall on the bottom. If your not sure, check the manual for instructions.

If a soft reset does not solve the problem, you may have to do a hard reset. Again, follow the instructions in the manual.
