my boys and I lit it up today at the 7-on-7 tourney at kent state. we lost our first game due to tiredness and it turned out to just be a warm-up, as we won our last 3 (one of the teams we dominated beat the team that beat us, so...). their record of 3-1 was their best yet, when even diebold & co couldn't win any games at this last year. strongest performances came from QBs tony morton (JR) and billy hefner (SO). carducci (SR RB/CB) played very well on both sides of the ball, many receptions and 4 (count them, four) interceptions on the day. knepp (SR WR/CB) covered the best WRs they played and gave up no catches while having some nice catches. kost also had a good show. mccullough (SR LB) gave an all-star performance on both sides with 2 TDs and several picks. johnson, spence, culkin, justin smith
their defense dominated all teams, giving up only 1 TD in their last 3 games. they must have had 20 interceptions total today as well. combine that with the great DL taking shape (not sure about penrod anymore, is he ineligible or not?) with spence, dailey, conroy, ciborek and others... this could be a dominating defense, surprisingly.
offense also looks quite potent, tony morton appears to be a great prospect at QB and hefner looked good too. if the OL can step it up this year, there is no doubt that hudson could take the WRC south this year and play well non-conference too. with conroy, nowakowski, wilson, aurand, and others manning the line, they may just do that.
