Maxing out in your bench press is not a true test in strength. Wow, so you can do something one time... In football, like every sport, you need stamina, not just strength for one push. Also, I don't think there has ever been a sport that has bench pressing, or any other lift as showing what you're abilities are on the field. So, no, it doesn't give coaches an idea of abilility... The only people on this board who sound stupid are the ones who imitate other people... Anyways, our players do care about how much they lift, they just don't find the need to go around bragging about how much they lift (cough cough, john scott). It's for personal achievement, not so everyone else knows they can do it... oh and, more than 1 person can do over 300 by the way.
