let's clear this up: I don't think we had a de with a broken arm, we had a sophomore qb (toney morton) with a broken arm (you may be confusing him with his older brother, roger). dailey had a kid but ended up hurting his ankle so he missed a bunch of games (since had a bit of tackles). penrod had a bad back for most of the season, started on o-line and had a position on shortyardage d (will probably be starting nose guard this year). and ciborek was inelligible, and although he is one of the best sophomore lineman he probably wouldn't have started since he had a lot of senior dts ahead of them.

however, he was right, our defensive line will be the best in the south next year, with some competition from falls. here are the projected starters right now:

de: chad spence (6'2, 200 lbs., ended up starting last year
[started off behind two seniors at end positions])
dt: jeff conroy (6'8, 280 lbs., second year playing and
very impressive with his improvement, gained a lot of
speed and lowerbody strength over winter)
ng: steve penrod (6', 280 lbs., very aggressive and strong,
benches around 350 lbs. and will be healthy next season,
started two ways last year prior to injuries)
dt: brad dailey (6', 200 lbs., quickest dt around, will be
healthy and aggressive as ever, two-year letter winner
to be a senior)
de: kyle smith or jason russell (5'11, 200 lbs., & 6'4",
220 lbs., not certain at this point)
