Subject: Shrike at Maumee Bay State Park

Hi all,

I spent a couple of hours at the MBSP this morning. Around 8:00am I found a Shrike in the campground. It was on the right (northeast?) side of the road, beyond the entrance booth and just beyond the first closed section of the campground.

Later, I re-found the bird in the first section open to camping, again on the right.

I did not get good enough looks to determine which species but definitely a Shrike. Look for it perched at the top of of the mid sized trees or berry bushes. When I stopped to observe, it would then fly up higher, into the cottonwood trees.

I did not see Snow Buntings or Snow Geese this morning. Still seeing a few waxwings and 2 femal Harriers. A second Kestrel was observed today but I am pretty positive they are both males though the light angle was bad on one of the two.
