Subject: Eastern Meadowlark/Eastern Kingbird

I was out for the beautiful sunny Wednesday at Maumee Bay State Park. After spotting many yellow and common yellowthroat warblers. I spotted an Eastern Medowlark occasionally flying from bush to bush on one of the unpaved meadow trails. When walking back to my motorcycle, I spotted a ring necked pheasant in all its glory walking across the road, scurring back in the the grassy meadow. After enjoying the company of many vociferous killdeer, I spotted a pair of Eastern Kingbirds with the unmistakable white band across the tail feathers, but couldn't see the red crown. Overall a great day!! I saw 4 cedar waxwings the day before at Ottawa Park and my first Gray Catbird and Northern Junco at Wildwood Preserve. I'm fairly new at birding, but the fever has caught on big time!!! I'll be at Irwin Prairie tomorrow late afternoon and perhaps see the Rufous-sided Towhee that I saw earlier in the week with my good friends Mike, Amanda and Alan Osborn. Thanks--------------Scott
