Subject: Crested Fly Catcher and House Finch Nests

While going to Westgate shopping center, I spotted a conspicuous nest of House Finches just outside of Dillards, by the Life Uniform shop, inside one of the broken rectangular lights. I saw the mother feeding them. There were also 2 males in proximity. I also spotted my first Great Crested Fly Catcher at Wildwood on the Yellow Meadow Trail. I followed him with binoculars and VOILA, he flew right into a nest in a Sycamore tree close to the top in a hole that seemed to be created previously by a woodpecker.

others:
Eastern Wood Peewee
Wood Thrush
Indigo Bunting
Field Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Baby Male Oriole
Tufted Titmouse (lots of fledglings)
Downey Woodpecker
Red Bellied Woodpecker
Northern Flicker
Ruby Throat
Catbird o' rama
Common Yellow Throat
Gold Finch
White Breasted Nuthatch (doing a mating move with his feathers to a present female.)

THe Lake LaSuann trip looked like alot of fun. I'll have to make the next trip. We saw the Yellow Breasted Chat, Wood Thrush, Eastern Wood Peewee, and the Swamp Sparrow for the first time at Irwin Prairie on 7/2 Good catch on the Chat Steve!!

Thanks,
Scott
