Subject: Very Late Prothonotary Warbler (Magee)

Hi All. Another great morning at Magee. Diversity is starting to thin out but total numbers are still good.

The highlight of the day was definitely a beautiful male prothonotary warbler, viewed at close range below the new observation platform near the west entrance to the boardwalk. Last seen at around 12pm, though I didn't give up hoping for another look till about 2pm. The bird was originally discovered by Mary Joe, a birder from Michigan.

12 warbler species present today, Blackburnian was probably the next best warbler. 2 female Purple Finches were a nice surprise and at least 2 red-breasted nuthatches were present.

A yellow-billed cuckoo is still hanging around as well.

What a beautiful day, not many more like today left this year.
