Subject: West of Toledo June 8

Nirschl, Durbin and I spent just a few hours this morning west of Toledo.

After a very average time in Williams county (only a Common loon was noteworthy among the regular Ceruleans, Least and Alder flycatchers, chat, WE vireo, etc), we decided to make a quick run into the Oak OPenings for a shot at the Prairie warbler.

We drove straight to Oak Openings parkway, just east of Girdham/Reed where Rick had the bird just a day or 2 ago. We dipped.

On the drive back north along Girdham, we stopped for our consolation Summer tanager, of which we got 2 (a young male and an adult male). A Grabmeier-led crew from Columbus then put us on the Prairie warbler, which was singing along the southern edge of the Girdham road dunes, just south of the rails-trails.
